DESCRIPTION:The training consists of three separate scheduled events\, allo
 wing registration for one\, two\, or all three sessions in this series. Th

  facilitated by Bekky Baker and Samantha Searles from Pace e Bene Nonviole
 nce Service and Ignite Peace\n\nWe have more power than we think. Nonviole
 nt action gives us the tools and skills we need to resist authoritarianism
  and keep our community safe. From rapid-response to boycotts\, sit-ins to
  marches\, come learn how to use this toolbox effectively as you move your
  principles into action. \n\nIn this series of trainings (online and in-p
 erson)\, you will learn the basics of nonviolent strategy\, campaign desig
 n\, and action planning. You’ll explore some of over 300+ tactics and le
 arn which ones are most powerful in these times. You’ll have a chance to
  try out role plays\, scenarios\, exercises\, and apply these ideas in sma
 ll or mid-sized groups. These workshops will apply special focus to resist
 ing the threat of immigrant crackdowns in Madison and to solidarity action
 s with the nationwide efforts to stop immigration abuses and end authorita
 rianism. \n\nWe will look at:\n\n 	How to move your values and principles
  into action\n 	300+ tactics of nonviolent action\n 	Strategic noncooperat
 ion\n 	Nonviolent direct action\n 	Campaign design\n 	Action planning\n 	A
 ffinity groups\n 	Scenarios and role plays\n 	De-escalation\n 	Nonviolent 
 discipline\n 	Inner preparation \n 	Case studies from history \n 	Succes
 s stories from recent events\n\nThis in-person training will provide train
 ing for you to take certain modules back to your groups so you can train y
 our network in these skills.\n\nWe recommend attending the two online sess
 ions before coming to this in-person training\, but it is not required. Yo
 u may also attend the online sessions even if you cannot attend the in-per
 son training. If planning to come to this event\, plan to stay for the ent
 ire time. \n\nMeet the Facilitators\n\nBekky Baker and Samantha Searles c
 ome from Cincinnati\, Ohio\, where their organization\, Ignite Peace\, has
  worked with their immigrant rights coalition and local community on Know 
 Your Rights trainings\, de-escalation skills\, nonviolent direct action\, 
 strategic noncooperation\, and neighborhood response teams. \n\nBekky Bak
 er has a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and e
 xperience working in both micro and macro practice settings. For the past 
 four years\, she has worked as a Program Director at Ignite Peace\, facili
 tating nonviolence and anti-racism educational programming and leading ant
 i-death-penalty organizing.\n\n[caption id="attachment_688" align="alignno
 ne" width="200"] Bekky Baker[/caption]\n\nSamantha Searles attended the Un
 iversity of Indianapolis to earn a degree in social work and later receive
 d her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Previ
 ously\, she worked as a grassroots organizer for Communities United for Ac
 tion. She joined Ignite Peace in 2017 as a program director\, facilitates 
 nonviolence and anti-racism educational programming\, and leads the immigr
